The prisms produce two beams polarized perpendicular
to each other. They are produced from high-grade calcite free of striae
and bubbles. The angle between the emerging beams is 45° or 90°
± 3'. The usable spectral range is 300 to 2700 nm (absorption of
the deflected beam occurs above 2 µm).
The field of view is ± 6° at
550 nm. The extinction ratio is 10-6 for the undeviated beam
but not as good for the reflected beam. Flatness of the outer surfaces
is better than λ/2 (λ
= 550 nm). Deformation of a transmitted plane wave is less than λ/2,
and prismatic deviation of the transmitted beam is less than about 2'.
The prisms are supplied in a box mount as standard.
