Special Imaging Optics Built to Customer Specification

In addition to the UV Condensers, UV-VIS-IR Achromats, UV lenses for CCD cameras and the optics for laser beam expansion, we are able to design and build a large variety of different optics for imaging, collimation, focusing and other applications in different wavelength ranges starting from below 200 nm to over 10 µm. These optics can be provided as separate pieces or in small series.

Some items already manufactured to customer specificationto top

  • Combinations of lenses and mirrors for laser beam expansion with or without spatial filters for all wavelengths.
  • Objectives in interferometer quality, including special achromatism for focal length or back focal length (for example, wavefronts λ/10 concurrently at two laser wavelengths without the need to refocus...).
  • Objectives with special opto-mechanical requirements, e.g., with lens surface concentricity to the image spot (if necessary also fulfilling high interferometric demands at this surface).
  • Image-producing objectives, as for photographic or video applications in UV (e.g. 200 to 400 nm) or IR (e.g. 0.8 to 2.5 µm), with normal or wide viewing angles or as a telephoto lens.
  • Objectives with motorized adjustment of aperture and focus.
  • Objectives partially or completely made from crystal materials: fluorite for apochromatic correction or UV transmission, quartz cut perpendicular to the axis also for height dependent rotation of the plane of polarization, quartz cut parallel to the axis, e.g., pairs of lenses with matched thicknesses to accomplish polarization needs.
  • Combination of different crystal materials for compensation or enhancement of crystal-optical properties.
  • Combination of imaging optics with prisms, plane plates, filters or polarizers, e.g., for spectroscopic applications.
  • Adaptation of our UV achromats to special achromatic conditions, collimation requirements, magnification ratios or aperture ratios.
  • Of course we will gladly build our normal lenses into special holders based on your specifications.

Procedure for specificationto top

We would be happy to discuss your needs and assist you on the use and specification of special optics with no obligation to your part. There is no need for you to formulate your complete requirements for an imaging system beforehand in optical terms; we will gladly analyze your needs.
The first step is an informal appraisal - with no obligation for either side - in which we take a look at the feasibility of producing what you need as well as make an estimate of the anticipated costs (and how these will depend on your requirements).
Based on the outcome of these initial discussions, we can then offer you at first a detailed technical study which determine whether the objective you require can actually be produced and where in case a preliminary optical construction is calculated to such an extent that we are able to provide you with a profile outlining the anticipated technical data of the objective (resolution, wavefront qualities, MTF values or other specifications important to your application). The final calculations of the study result in a fixed quotation for the production of the system.
Of course the cost of this kind of study depends to a great extent on each individual situation and is calculated on a case-to-case basis; however, we usually are able to provide you with a general indication of cost early in our discussions. In the calculation of these studies, which we regard as extended quotations, we are particularly careful to keep costs at a reasonably low level until you are able to assess the total expenditure involved.
We will also manufacture optics based on your own calculations. After an initial consultation we will advise you and support you with the technical information you require for the calculation of an optimal and cost-effective construction.
